🪥 Teeth cleaning & check-ups

Teeth cleaning and dental check-ups in Frazer Town, Bengaluru

Professional scaling and polishing removes the hardened tartar a toothbrush can’t. Paired with a check-up every six months, it’s the simplest way to catch problems while they’re still small.

🦠 Why professional cleaning matters

Brushing removes plaque. It can’t remove tartar.

Plaque is a soft film of bacteria that forms on teeth every day. Left for a while, it hardens into tartar (calculus), usually behind the lower front teeth and along the gum line. Tartar can’t be brushed off, and it irritates the gums.

Signs you’re due a cleaning

  • Gums that bleed when you brush or floss
  • Bad breath that keeps coming back
  • Yellow or brown deposits near the gums
  • Teeth looking duller or more stained than before
  • It’s been more than six months since your last cleaning

🩸 Understanding gum disease

From bleeding gums to loose teeth

Gum disease is one of the most common reasons adults lose teeth, and it’s mostly preventable.

Reversible

1. Gingivitis

Red, puffy gums that bleed easily. Caught here, a professional cleaning and better home care usually reverse it completely.

Needs treatment

2. Early periodontitis

Tartar spreads below the gum line, and pockets form where the gum pulls away from the teeth. A deeper cleaning is needed.

Act quickly

3. Advanced periodontitis

The bone supporting the teeth is lost. Teeth may feel loose or shift. Treatment aims to stop it getting worse and save the teeth.

📋 Types of cleaning

Which cleaning do you need?

Most people

✨ Scaling & polishing

An ultrasonic scaler and fine hand instruments remove tartar above and just below the gum line. Polishing then smooths the teeth and lifts surface stains.

Gum disease

🩺 Deep cleaning (root planing)

Cleaning further below the gum line and smoothing the root surfaces so the gums can reattach. It’s often done in sections, under local anaesthetic.

Ongoing care

🔁 Maintenance cleaning

Regular cleanings, often every 3–6 months, for patients who have had gum disease, wear braces or have implants.

❓ Questions patients ask

Cleaning & check-up FAQs

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Every six months suits most people. If you’ve had gum disease, wear braces, smoke or have implants, every three to four months may be better.

Does scaling damage the enamel or loosen teeth?

No. Scaling removes tartar, not enamel. Teeth can feel slightly different afterwards because the tartar that was bridging them has gone. Healthier gums tighten around them again.

Will cleaning hurt?

Most people find it comfortable. If your gums are inflamed or your teeth are sensitive, tell us. We can work more gently or numb the area.

Why do my gums bleed after cleaning?

Inflamed gums bleed easily, and a little bleeding for a day or so is normal. It usually reduces quickly as the gums heal.

Will cleaning make my teeth whiter?

It removes surface stains, so teeth often look brighter and fresher. For a lighter shade than your natural colour, see teeth whitening.

How much does a cleaning cost?

We don’t publish individual treatment prices. The Annual Dental Health Plan (₹2,499 a year) includes two scaling and polishing sessions and unlimited consultations.
